A bit about me!
Elaine Miller, IMDT
During many happy years living with dogs of various breeds, from puppies to seniors, I have faced the challenges of general training, behaviour issues, illness and injury. Looking more closely at how dogs communicate, learn and why they behave the way they do, I became fascinated in our complex companions!
While learning about the science of behaviour change, I have seen proof that reward-based training methods are highly effective for all types of animals (including humans!). Quality holistic healthcare and nutrition can also have a huge impact on wellbeing and behaviour.
To ensure continued development and keep up-to-date with the latest research, I have become a bit of seminar junkie! I regularly attend theory and practical workshops - it’s very important to me to provide the best possible professional service to my clients.
I have been fortunate enough to have learned from many esteemed trainers, including Dr Susan Friedman, Grisha Stewart, Kay Laurence, Isla Fishburn, Chirag Patel and Prof Daniel Mills.
As Manager of the Scottish Rally Team, I train and support the team in competing at the Inter-regional competition held at Crufts. As a Team, we aim to help change the competitive world of dog sports from the inside out - always ensuring that our dog's welfare is our first consideration. I also enjoy competing with my own dogs and have been honoured to judge at various Rally competitions around the UK.
Dogs are my passion – I want the very best for them! As a trainer, my goal is to promote a positive, enriching life for dogs and their families.
At home, my two crazy Flat Coated Retrievers (aged 5 and 7) are determined never to grow up and they fill my days with laughter and fun.
I’d love to help you gain a better understanding of your dog and why they do what they do – to help you to connect with them, so life is easier for everyone … and most importantly, for you to have more fun together!
