Welcome to your Training Course

We're excited to train with you and your dog!  To help you get the best from your course, please read the info below before our first class.

📍 Class location

2nd Fife Scout Hall, Berrylaw Place, Dunfermline, KY12 8AL

  • Parking is available opposite the residents’ garages at the end of the road.

  • The Scout hall is located in the adjoining field.

💜 Our training approach

  • We believe in fun, reward-based learning — because it works.
Our aim is to help your dog learn how to thrive in our world while still enjoying life as a dog.
We never use or condone intimidation or punishment.

  • Your commitment matters — attending each class, using your online resources and practising daily will help you and your dog make amazing progress together.

🐶 Preparing for class

  • A short, calm sniffy walk followed by rest or sleep before class can help your dog feel more comfortable and ready to learn.

  • Avoid greeting other dogs before class to prevent them becoming overwhelmed or too excited.

  • Give other dogs and handlers plenty of space, especially when entering and leaving.

  • We aim to start promptly, so please arrive 5-10 minutes early to be ready when we begin.

🎒 What to bring each week

  • Part of your dog’s usual meal (serve the rest at home as normal, so they aren't too hungry or full).

  • Several types of food rewards (eg, tiny pieces of cooked meat, cheese and soft commercial 'treats').

  • A reward pouch that clips to your waist or fits easily in your pocket.

  • Your dog's favourite toy (no squeakers please and balls should have a handle).

  • An edible chew or food-filled toy (eg, a bully stick or Kong™).

  • A dog towel.

  • Water and bowl.

  • Your dog!  Wearing:

    • a flat collar and walking-length lead

    • a well-fitting harness if they pull (we recommend Perfect Fit or Ruffwear)

    • No retractable or slip leads, please.

⭐️ At class

  • Each class lasts around one hour, indoors (with some outdoor work when weather allows).

  • We provide seating for handlers, a mat for your dog and equipment for training games.

  • All family members are welcome to attend and take part.

  • Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.

  • If you have children under 8, please bring another adult to supervise, so you can focus on training.

  • We ask you to keep your dog on lead at all times, unless a trainer advises otherwise.

📌 Important notes

  • Please let us know if you can't attend a class.

  • If you have symptoms of any contagious illness, are awaiting test results, or have been advised to isolate, please do not attend and inform us immediately.

  • If your dog is in season, unwell or injured, consult your vet and contact us before the session.

  • Handlers remain responsible for their dog at all times.

  • Don't forget to complete your pre-course online learning, before our first class.
